Calibrations are traceable to NIST and are performed in our climate-controlled labs in Clayton, OH and Aliquippa, PA or by our mobile calibration lab based in Canton, OH, which comes to your facility.
Every ICS lab, including the mobile lab, can perform all of the force calibrations listed below. Equipment can be sent to our lab, or we can be on-site at your facility.

Force calibration FAQs
How often should a force gauge or load cell be calibrated?
Most manufacturers and quality systems specify every 12 months. Shorten the interval if a gauge or load cell has been overloaded, dropped or used near its full capacity often. Your quality system sets the final interval.
Do you calibrate in tension, compression or both?
Tell us whether your device is used in tension, compression or both, and we calibrate it the way you use it. Our labs are equipped for load cell calibration and other tension measurement devices.
What standards apply to load cell and force gauge calibration?
ASTM E74 and ISO 376 are the standards commonly used to calibrate force-measuring instruments such as load cells, and ASTM E4 covers the verification of testing machines. Check the ICS scope of accreditation for the ranges and methods we are accredited for.
Can you calibrate durometers, hardness testers and dynamometers?
Yes. Our capabilities include durometers, hardness testers, dynamometers, tension meters and test stands, along with digital and mechanical force gauges, push/pull gauges and gripping fixtures.
Can you calibrate on-site?
Yes. Our mobile calibration lab, based in Canton, OH, comes to your facility and can perform all of the force calibrations listed above. You can also send equipment to our Clayton, OH or Aliquippa, PA laboratory.
Why does a calibration lab need to be climate-controlled for force work?
Temperature changes affect load cell output and the dimensions of the fixtures and standards used in a calibration. Our labs in Clayton, OH and Aliquippa, PA are climate-controlled so results are stable and repeatable.
What does ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation mean for my audit?
ANAB accreditation means an independent body has assessed the laboratory's technical competence, equipment and measurement uncertainty. ISO 9001, AS9100 and IATF 16949 audits expect calibration that is traceable to national standards, and accredited calibration is the most direct way to show it.
