In-motion

We sell in-motion axle scales from B-TEK Scales featuring fully functional ticketing, traffic light, and truck in/out software.

Axle

AX200 Portable

B-TEK’s AX200 Axle Scale is ideal for accurately checking individual axle weights. The weights are used to minimize the risk of overweight fines due to individual axles that exceed state maximum limits.

Axle

AX300 Bridge

Featuring a heavy-duty bridge between the platforms, the AX300 guarantees, an accurate axle weight measurement every time.

Axle Scales

Axle scales provide an economical approach to weighing axles in many non NTEP required applications. Depending on the specifics of the axles being weighed, we can tailor a solution to meet your need.

OUR MOTTO: TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER

Axle scale calibration and service

Brechbuhler Scales calibrates and services axle scales throughout our territory, including B-TEK AX200 portable and AX300 bridge systems. Regular calibration keeps every individual axle weight accurate, which matters when a driver relies on axle readings to avoid overweight fines or an unbalanced load.

What we check on an axle scale

An axle scale calibration compares what each platform reads against known test weights, checks that adjacent platforms agree when a full truck is weighed across them, and confirms the unit returns to zero between vehicles. For AX300 Bridge units we also check that the bridge itself has not shifted or settled unevenly.

Portable vs. bridge axle scales

AX200 Portable axle scales get moved and set up in different locations, so our technicians check that the pads sit level and stable at each new site in addition to calibrating the load cells. AX300 Bridge axle scales are installed in a fixed location, so service focuses on the bridge deck, cabling, and mounting hardware holding calibration between visits.

Legal-for-trade axle weighing

An axle scale used to help certify compliance with state weight limits needs to be accurate and, depending on how it is used, may need to meet NIST Handbook 44 requirements the same as a full truck scale. We can tell you what your specific setup requires and calibrate it accordingly.

Axle scale calibration FAQs

How often should an axle scale be calibrated?

Most axle scales should be calibrated at least once a year, though scales used daily for compliance checks or high-volume weighing often benefit from more frequent service.

Can axle scales be used to certify a truck's total weight?

Yes, when the axle readings are summed correctly and the scale is legal for trade for that purpose. We can confirm whether your AX200 or AX300 setup is configured this way.

What is the difference between calibration and a state inspection?

A calibration verifies and adjusts accuracy. A state inspection is performed by weights and measures officials to certify the scale for legal-for-trade use. A calibration does not replace the official inspection, but it helps keep the scale ready for one.
