LIVESTOCK

If you’re working as a vet, you will see all types of animals, in all
shapes and sizes, which is why it is important to have a reliable vet
scale, where you can successfully weigh any animal you take care of.

Our animal scales come with a large, stainless steel platform that is tough enough to last. This protects it from scratching, and minor damages that some dogs and other animals could cause. It also is big enough to weigh any animal, large or small, that you'll be taking care of.

You can trust that any of our animal scales will provide accurate results on a regular basis. They will help you track the progress of the animals you're taking care of, and properly evaluate their development. Our models come in all types of weighing units, with an easy to read LCD display. They're easy to use and operate, for all of your employees.

Ours feature a non-slip design that is made to keep you and the animals safe at all times. Several also include wheels, so you can easily move them anywhere around your workplace, at any time. Our animal weighing scales come with a rechargeable battery, so you won't have to spend money on buying batteries in the long run. We have a fantastic variety that features different sized platforms, innovative features, and much more

Livestock scale calibration and service

Brechbuhler Scales calibrates and services livestock and veterinary scales, so the weights you rely on for animal health decisions, sale barn transactions, or breeding programs stay accurate.

What we check on a livestock scale

A livestock scale calibration compares the platform's reading against known test weights, confirms the scale returns to zero between animals, and checks that a moving, uneasy load doesn't throw off the reading. We also inspect the platform, gates, and indicator for wear from animal traffic.

Livestock scales take a different kind of wear

Unlike a static industrial load, animals shift their weight and move around on the platform. That means livestock scales see more mechanical stress on load cells and platform surfaces over time, which is why regular calibration and inspection matter more than the schedule alone suggests.

Legal-for-trade livestock scales

A livestock scale used for sale barn transactions or billing by weight typically needs to be legal for trade under NIST Handbook 44. We can tell you what your setup requires and calibrate it accordingly.

Livestock scale calibration FAQs

How often should a livestock scale be calibrated?

Most livestock scales should be calibrated at least once a year, though scales used daily at a sale barn or large operation often benefit from more frequent checks.

Do moving animals affect scale accuracy?

A quality livestock scale and indicator are built to handle a moving load, but excessive movement can still affect the reading. We can advise on best practices for weighing active animals.

Can a livestock scale double as a general platform scale?

In many cases, yes, though the platform size and construction should match your typical animal size and traffic. We can help you choose the right configuration.
