- Fred Brechbuhler founded the company in Canton, Ohio in 1929. The Brechbuhler family still owns and remains actively involved in the company.

- Brechbuhler Scales has grown over the years, and it now has 16 branch locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Indiana. Corporate headquarters remain in Canton, OH.

- The company started B-TEK Scales in 1995 to manufacture industrial scales.

- Brechbuhler Scales obtained ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation in December 2000.

- An Ohaus Regional Service Center opened in the Canton branch in the fall of 2000. This is one of five service centers nationwide that specialize in the repair of Ohaus balances.
